#26 – Fit Into Those Pants

Ugh, donuts!

Why are they so delicious? Why am I unable to resist their sweet, flaky goodness? When that alluring aroma of maple frosting drifts around me, am I really expected to ignore it?!

Today, the answer was no. I caved. I ate the damn donut.

Those pants I want to wear? The ones that have been in my closet for a couple years because I can’t bear to give them up? Donuts aren’t exactly going to help me squeeze back into them.

I love those pants. I love how I felt in those pants. They gave me confidence. They made me feel strong. They made me feel sexy.

I want those feelings back. That’s why the pants made the list.

If only donuts burned calories, what a world this would be!

Donuts

Yes, goals require sacrifice.

But, goals are also about balance.

Life is about balance.

Moderation… that’s a vocab word I definitely tossed out on the street a while back. Now I’m crawling on my hands and knees, like I’m searching for a dropped contact trying to find that pesky word back.

Yes, I had the damn donut. Yes, I enjoyed it.

But at the end of the day, it’s about small victories.

It was just one donut. I don’t eat donuts every day. I can’t even remember the last time I had a donut.

Anything is fine in moderation.

(Note: If you’re sitting on the couch eating a box of donuts for supper, that is not moderation.)

It’s when you forget the definition of moderation—or throw it out of your vocabulary like I’ve been known to do—that there’s an issue.Moderation

I’ve already come a long ways on this goal. One donut won’t foil me. But if a donut shows up tomorrow, or that box needs emptying at the end of the day, I’m not giving in.

If you have a goal like mine, think twice before grabbing that donut. Or that cookie. Or that pop. Or that bagel.

But if you deserve a treat, then by all means, treat yourself. Life is too short to give up all donuts forever. Let’s not be crazy now!

But if you treated yourself yesterday or an hour ago…

Balance, people. It’s about balance.

I’m out the door to spin class to burn off those tasty calories now.

Have a donut every now and then. It’s okay.

Just don’t run off with the whole damn box 🙂
